We love weddings and the wedding industry but sometimes you need a little extra oomph to get really creative in your wedding planning--by looking for inspiration in places you would never expect. Here ae a few we like to go back to again and again:
Interior design books and magazines. There is no better place to find beautiful new ideas for colour palletes, centerpieces or table design. A great tool for discovering your own unique style and finding what makes you different from the rest. Your wedding should reflect who you are as much as your home would.

A new restuarant, Cookbooks, etc.: Go somewhere unique. Try food from a different country. Just have something new for dinner--it might just give you an idea that will make your menu stand out above all the rest. It doesn't have to be chicken, beef or fish. Spend some time learning about the art and science of food so that the meal you give your guests (and yourselves) is an experience, rather than simply being a stomach filler. And take care to let your food show your personality! So many brides and grooms don't realize how fun food can be--are you a wine lover? Why not have wine and cheese (or chocolate) pairings for your guests to try during cocktail hour? Are you a country girl? Why not have barbeque style food? Is your wedding bringing together two different ethnicities? Show off some favourite dishes! Food trucks! Food stations! Dessert tables! There are so many options! What did you grow up eating? What do you love? You get the idea. Take control of your menu!
Your photo albums: What memories did you take special care to save and organize to share with your loved ones when they are sitting on your sofa? Did you and your fiance love your trip to Hawaii so much that you plan on going back more times than you can count? Why not create a coconut pineapple signature cocktail--or better yet, get married in Hawaii? Do your photo albums make it clear that you are an adventurer who likes to take risks? A romantic? An arts connoisseur? A lover of the outdoors? These can tell you anything from how to dress your tables to what favours to give your guests to what to serve for dinner and where to go on your honeymoon. There is nothing more sweet than a personal wedding!
The fashion industry: Not sure what direction to take your bridesmaids dresses (or bridal gown)? We suggest taking a break from bridesmaids stores online and in person and looking at what is currently in style for everyday or less formal wear. If you wouldn't wear it, (or wear it again) and if it isn't your style, nix it. Your bridal dresses do not have to be from bridesmaid's stores because it has the word bridesmaid on it. We love ModCloth for this--they have so many great vintage looks that we swoon over on a daily basis. If you are a bride, bridesmaid, wedding guest or just a human being who loves fashion we suggest dropping everything that you are doing and spending a few thousand hours on their site. Right now.
Your Closet: Not sure what your favourite colours are? What do you have the most of in your closet? Not sure what your bridal fashion style is? Take a peek in your closet. Get to know your sense of style on a deeper level. Why do you have 10 dresses and 2 pairs of shorts? Why do you have 2 skirts and 10 pairs of pants? What body parts are you most comfortable and excited showing off? What would you like to hide? How can the approach you take to dress shopping reflect these things? It is important to feel confident and comfortable in what you are wearing every day--but especially on your wedding day. If you're not comfortable wearing dresses, maybe a huge ballgown isn't for you. If you love bling, reflect that in your bridal style.

Travels: You never know what you will find beautiful, what will blow you away, what will put you in awe. Take as much time as you can to visit as many new places as you can and learn about as many traditions as you can.
What we're trying to say is: when you are lacking inspiration for your wedding, remember who you are (as individuals and as a couple), what you love and why you love it. Then, bring it to life so you can share that with your loved ones on the most special day of your lives (aka BEST. DAY. EVER.)
With Sweet Love,
Vanessa + Miray
